ODAM Nursery Garden
ODAM’s 16 acre stretch of land cultivates many plant species to test sustainable farming techniques and nurture back indigenous species to the environment. The ODAM Garden, once on fallow juliflora-ridden land, is now cultivating organic produce and agro-fuel plantings. Organic vegetables such as ground nut (peanuts), brinjal (eggplants), bitter gourd, chilies, tomatoes, are cultivated by SHG members and sold to the rural poor for cheap. The produce is also used to supply food supplies for ODAM’s girls school and hostel. The farm is also raising non-edible tree-based oil seeds like pongomia, jatropha, and neem as part of ODAM’s afforestation and biofuel initiatives.
